AMHCA Licenced Clinical Professional Counselors Association

The Montana Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors Association presents:

THE GOTTMAN METHOD for Couples Therapy

The Montana Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors Association is proud to offer a live presentation of the Level one: Marital Therapy: A Research Based Approach to Gottman Therapy (MTRBA) for this year’s Two Day CEU Training Event.

This workshop is for clinicians wanting to work with couples and use the Gottman method of Couples therapy.

The training reviews Dr. Gottman's three decades of research on what makes marriages succeed or fail, and teaches a therapy that helps troubled marriages. The workshop provides a wealth of information about couples dynamics, marital assessment, couples exercises and therapeutic interventions. All materials may be used in private practice settings.

Presenter: James Ramsey, Certified Gottman Therapist, comes highly recommended by The Gottman organization and uses a wealth of experience working with the method as well as 35 years therapy experience. He is both a Clinical Therapist in Private Practice as well as a Nationally Certified Speaker. He was the first therapist in Montana to become a fully certified Gottman couples Therapist as well as authorized to present The Art and Science of Love Couples Workshops. To read more about him go to the www.Gottman.com under certified counselors, his web site, www.greatmarriages.net or at www.tohirespeakers.com.

You will learn what Dr. Gottman's research tells us about couples, including…

  • How married couples really sustain their marriages—in contrast to common myths and misconceptions.
  • How the quality of relationships affects the immune system, physical health and well being.
  • How marital problems change over time, but never go away—even in happy couples.

You will gain specific, research-based tools to make an impact on the couples you see in your practice, including…

  • New marital assessment and diagnosis procedures that have been used to predict marital stability with 94% accuracy.
  • New diagnostic tools that accurately identify the specific problems in the dynamics of the marital relationship.
  • Methods to help couples feel a renewed sense of caring and partnership through emotional connection.

You will be ready to apply what you've learned, including…

  • The key points in couples' interactions, when your interventions will be most effective.
  • Therapeutic methods to help couples enhance friendship and shared meaning in their relationships.
  • Specific and precise therapy techniques based on years of scientific analyses that help resolve solvable problems and dialogue on grid-locked ones.

If you are interested in receiving training in Level-I Gottman Couples Therapy in addition to receiving the 12 CEU Credits through attending this Fall Training Conference, we are excited to report that we have negotiated a significantly reduced rate for our members.  For only $105 you will receive a certificate of completion for the Level-I Gottman Couples Therapy Workshop, as well as the 330 page Clinician’s Workshop Manual for Couples Therapy, which includes all materials covered in the workshop, plus 30 Assessment Questionnaires and 8 Key Gottman Interventions that you can use immediately with your clients. Normally, a person would have to travel to Seattle and pay $450 to get a certificate of completion for the Level I Training, the Manual and these additional materials to be used in counseling. Our presenter, Jim Ramsey has negotiated this special one-time opportunity, due to the size of our group and the desire of the Gottman Institute to get this information out into the hands of therapists across our country and around the world.

This CEU workshop will be held October 9,10, 2009 at The College of Technology in Billings.
